BIM/VDC Designer – Philadelphia

Join our team as a BIM/VDC Designer, where you'll play a key role in developing and coordinating complex electrical designs for a variety of projects. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who can manage design responsibilities within project scope, schedule, and budget while collaborating with engineers, project managers, and field personnel. Success in this role requires strong electrical construction knowledge, exceptional coordination skills, and the ability to resolve design challenges with efficient, value-driven solutions.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a BIM/VDC Designer or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in BIM software and tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in the electrical construction industry is highly preferred.
  • Ability to identify and resolve design conflicts and present cost-effective solutions.
Duties
  • Design and Drafting: Develop and maintain detailed 3D BIM models of electrical systems including conduit, cable tray, lighting, power distribution, and equipment. Participate in multi-trade coordination and perform clash detection to resolve conflicts with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and structural systems. Produce coordinated installation drawings and shop drawings for field teams. Support construction planning, sequencing, and visualization using BIM models. Generate spool drawings and model assemblies to support electrical prefabrication. Assist with field layout and verification using BIM-based layout technology. Maintain accurate model documentation and support as-built model development at project completion.
  • Project Management: Complete project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule. Participate in coordination and project-related meetings. Perform other responsibilities as necessary to support the successful completion of projects.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Effectively communicate with project managers, project engineers, and field personnel. Identify and resolve conflicts with the design team and present well-thought-out and cost-effective solutions.
  • Industry Knowledge: Maintain a strong understanding of the electrical construction industry and processes.
  • Work Environment: This job mainly operates in an office setting using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
