Job summary

Salas O’Brien is seeking a BIM Technician to support the preparation and coordination of construction documents using architectural and structural models. You will develop drawings in BIM/CAD, coordinate with architecture, structural, and MEP disciplines, and ensure compliance with standards and codes.

This role emphasizes independent work within a collaborative team. Responsibilities include managing drawing sets, responding to RFIs, and assisting engineers and project managers.

Qualifications

• 5 years minimum experience producing architectural and/or structural construction drawings.
• Proficient with BIM and CAD software (Revit, AutoCAD).
• Solid understanding of BIM concepts and workflows.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
• Familiarity with industry drafting standards.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction drawings and documentation from sketches, markups, and design concepts using BIM and CAD software.
• Develop and modify architectural and structural models per standards and project needs.
• Coordinate drawings and models with architecture, structural, and MEP to resolve clashes.
• Review drawings for accuracy, constructability, and code compliance.
• Assist project engineers and managers with document prep and revisions.
• Manage drawing sets, reference files, view templates, and sheet organization.
• Perform site plan reviews and assess grading foundations impact on systems.
• Apply CAD/BIM standards and maintain documentation consistency.
• Respond to RFIs and support construction administration documentation.
• Work independently on assigned tasks while seeking guidance for complex issues.
