Job summary

Ideal Consolidated, Inc. in Mishawaka, IN is seeking a skilled BIM Technician to join our VDC and Prefabrication team.

You will develop and maintain detailed BIM models for mechanical piping, HVAC, and plumbing systems, coordinating with project managers and field teams to ensure constructability. You will lead clash detection, produce shop drawings and fabrication spool drawings, and support prefabrication workflows using Autodesk Revit, Navisworks Manage, and Forma.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of BIM/VDC experience in the construction industry.
• Experience modeling and coordinating: Mechanical Piping Systems, HVAC Systems, Plumbing Systems.
• Advanced proficiency with Autodesk design and coordination tools.
• Experience generating fabrication spool drawings and shop drawings.
• Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and MEP installation practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain BIM models for mechanical piping, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
• Participate in multi-trade BIM coordination meetings and resolve clashes through collaborative coordination.
• Produce high-quality installation and shop drawings from coordinated models.
• Create fabrication spool drawings for prefabrication and field installation.
• Utilize BIM workflows to support project planning, field execution, and prefabrication operations.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, superintendents, and field personnel to ensure model accuracy and constructability.
• Perform clash detection and coordination reviews using Navisworks.
• Assist in maintaining BIM standards, modeling practices, and project execution procedures.
• Support VDC initiatives and continuous improvement efforts throughout project lifecycles.

We are seeking an experienced BIM Technician to join our growing VDC and Prefabrication team in the South Bend, Indiana area. This position requires an individual with strong experience in mechanical piping, HVAC, and plumbing systems and a proven background in BIM coordination, shop drawing production, and fabrication spooling.

The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in Autodesk design and coordination tools and capable of working closely with project managers, field teams, fabrication shops, and trade partners to deliver accurate and coordinated construction models.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working for a mechanical contractor or specialty trade contractor.
• Familiarity with prefabrication workflows and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of construction sequencing and field installation practices.
• Experience with laser scanning and reality capture workflows is a plus.
• Associate's degree, technical degree, or equivalent industry experience.
