Job Description
Job Title: BIM Specialist
Job Description
The BIM Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the design and construction of mechanical systems, including industrial piping, HVAC, plumbing, and high-purity installations. This position ensures that Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes are implemented effectively to produce high-quality, coordinated, and constructible designs that align with strong principles of safety, quality, and integrity. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to complex industrial and commercial projects while helping establish and grow operations in the Raleigh market, with significant flexibility, professional development, and exposure to diverse project types.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage detailed BIM models for mechanical systems across industrial, commercial, and high-purity projects.
- Coordinate closely with engineers, project managers, and field teams to ensure accurate integration of piping, HVAC, plumbing, and utility systems within the BIM environment.
- Perform clash detection and resolve conflicts between disciplines using BIM software such as Revit and Navisworks to ensure constructible and coordinated designs.
- Generate construction documents and shop drawings directly from BIM models to support fabrication and installation activities.
- Maintain and improve BIM standards, templates, and workflows in alignment with a design-build approach and project delivery best practices.
- Provide 3D visualization and technical input during planning and construction phases to support decision-making and field execution.
- Train, mentor, and support team members in the effective use of BIM tools, workflows, and best practices.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure BIM deliverables meet project requirements, schedules, and quality expectations.
- Organize and manage BIM files, models, and documentation within Autodesk Construction Cloud and other collaboration platforms.
- Assist in implementing and refining mechanical building systems modeling processes, including process piping and high-purity systems.
- Support the integration of fabrication parts within Revit, including CADMEP components, to enhance coordination with fabrication and installation.
- Participate in design review meetings and coordination sessions, presenting BIM models and visualizations to internal teams and external partners.
- Help manage multiple BIM-related tasks across concurrent projects, prioritizing workload and maintaining organized documentation.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 2–5 years of BIM experience in mechanical contracting, HVAC, or industrial piping projects.
- Proficiency in Revit, including Revit MEP and Revit 2024 using CADMEP fabrication parts.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, including AutoCAD 2024 or later and AutoCAD Plant 3D 2024 or later.
- Experience with BIM workflows for mechanical building systems, including HVAC design, plumbing design, and process piping.
- Ability to perform clash detection and coordinate models using tools such as Navisworks 2024 or later.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including piping, HVAC, and high-purity installations, and their application in industrial and commercial environments.
- Experience creating construction documents, shop drawings, and 3D models to support fabrication and installation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office within a Windows 11 operating system environment.
- Ability to work with Autodesk Construction Cloud for file sharing and collaboration.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with engineers, project teams, contractors, and clients.
- Organized, detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage multiple projects and BIM tasks simultaneously.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
