ABOUT THE ROLE

The BIM specialist will assist BIM leads/managers to ensure modeling/coordination efforts are completed in a timely manner for all jobs. They will help with other tasks to ensure that information is delivered to the field team to successfully complete field installation.

Sturgeon Electric has two divisions offering both powerline construction and commercial/industrial electrical construction.

Sturgeon Electric’s Commercial and Industrial (C&I) electrical construction division specializes in large-scale commercial electrical projects, telecommunications, traffic signalization, gas distribution, high voltage distribution service and maintenance. We offer design-build and pre-construction services and have in-house pre-fabrication and AutoCAD capabilities.

Essential Functions

• Work with office and project staff to develop BIM models of new and existing electrical systems within commercial buildings. Models are used for project coordination with other trades, dimensioned shop drawings for prefabrication and field installation, takeoffs using Revit schedules, preconstruction efforts, and as-built record drawings.
• Perform modeling primarily utilizing Revit across multiple project types.
• Collaborate using Navisworks Manage for coordination and clash detection.
• Provide dimensioned shop drawings for field installation and prefabrication, and as-built record drawings at project end.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Essential functions are performed in a company-designated office or field location.
• Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards, if applicable.

ABOUT YOU

Qualifications

• Electrical and general construction knowledge is preferred to understand constructability of electrical systems.
• Revit experience with setup and maintenance of jobs, files, families, schedules, and work sets.
• Proficient in Navisworks and Bluebeam.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Revit experience and understanding of its processing, including setting up and maintaining jobs, files, families, and work sets.
• Ability to use most Revit tools within a project; familiarity with electrical design tools such as conduit and cable tray.
• Ability to extract accurate and detailed information from Revit models through schedules to identify quantities and material values.
• Navisworks Manage experience with project coordination and clash detection.
• Reliable, punctual, self-motivated, and proactive attitude.
• Willingness to learn additional software as required by project.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary $65,000-$85,000 / year
  • Commensurate with experience; paid weekly. Salary ranges are posted in good faith and may be adjusted based on qualifications.
