Job summary

Meisner Electric, Inc. is seeking a BIM/CAD technician to create electrical BIM models from design drawings and manage related documents. The role requires experience with BIM tools and coordination across trades, with a focus on constructability and timely deliverables.

You will review designs, conduct clash detection, and maintain model accuracy while supporting site data collection and client inquiries. This is an on-site position based in Boca Raton, FL.

Qualifications

• 2-year degree in CAD or equivalent.
• 2+ years with Commercial Electrical projects and BIM experience.
• 1+ year with 3D modeling and coordination using BIM tools.

Responsibilities

• Generate Electrical BIM models from design drawings and instructions.
• Review designs for constructability and clash detection.
• Audit 3D models from multiple trades and coordinate with project team.
• Maintain BIM project documents and deliverables.
• Coordinate plan views, room layouts, and BIM outputs from the model.

Job description

Summary/Objective:

Overall responsibility for the BIM model creation and information developed during construction.

Qualifications

2-year degree in CAD (Computer Aided Design). 2 or more years with Commercial Electrical projects, 1 or more years with BIM (Building Information Modeling), 1 or more years with 3d Modeling. Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks Manage, Microsoft Office, Bluebeam Revu.

Essential Functions

• Understand written instructions from designers and engineers to generate Electrical BIM Models

• Review early designs for constructability analysis

• Capable of auditing and reviewing 3D Models from different trades using Navisworks Manage

• Conducts clash detection and visual walkthroughs

• Recognizes the necessity of adhering to deadlines

• Holds weekly coordination meetings with project team members

• Manage / Update BIM Project Documents & Models

• 3D Model Quantity Extraction / Verification

• Be responsible for BIM file exchange and archiving of milestone submittals

• Coordinates with the team to assure the creation of proper plan views, room layouts and BIM final deliverables directly from the coordinated model.

• Uses special notations and symbols to give instructions on drawings and blueprints.

• Revises drawings based on instructions from engineers or architects.

• Visits building sites to collect data for drawings.

• Consults with clients to understand their instructions and to answer their questions.

• Monitors compliance with building codes throughout the construction process.

• Reviews engineering data to ensure compliance with the original design plans.

• Modifies existing drawings

• Stores drawings electronically and generate prints for later use

• Perform other duties not specifically stated herein, which may be assigned periodically by yoursupervisor.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervision responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
