Job summary

Mohr Talent in Kansas City, MO is seeking a BIM Designer with a background in electrical contracting to create and coordinate detailed electrical models and installation drawings for commercial and industrial projects. You will leverage Revit to build models and Navisworks to resolve clashes across trades, ensuring constructability and field readiness.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of BIM modeling/design experience within electrical contracting.
• Experience with electrical contractor or electrical construction company preferred.
• Strong proficiency with Revit.
• Experience with Navisworks.
• Knowledge of commercial/industrial electrical systems.
• Understanding of electrical construction methods and installation practices.
• Experience producing shop drawings, layouts, or installation drawings.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specs.

Responsibilities

BIM Designer – Electrical Construction

Are you an experienced BIM Designer with a background in electrical contracting who enjoys turning complex electrical designs into accurate, buildable plans?

We’re partnering with a well-established, family-owned electrical contractor with more than 50 years of experience delivering commercial and industrial electrical construction projects. The company offers a collaborative environment where BIM, field operations, project management, and preconstruction teams work closely together to ensure projects are coordinated correctly before installation begins.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands both digital construction and how electrical systems are actually installed in the field.

What You’ll Do

As a BIM Designer, you’ll support commercial and industrial electrical construction projects by creating and coordinating detailed electrical models and installation drawings.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Develop and maintain detailed electrical BIM models using Revit
• Use Navisworks for clash detection and multi-trade coordination
• Model electrical systems including conduit, cable tray, equipment, power distribution, and related components
• Participate in BIM/VDC and coordination meetings with other construction trades
• Identify and resolve clashes before installation begins in the field
• Create detailed shop drawings, layout plans, and installation documentation
• Coordinate electrical layouts with HVAC, plumbing, structural, and architectural systems
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements
• Work closely with Project Managers, field supervisors, electricians, and other designers
• Ensure BIM models accurately reflect constructability and field installation requirements
• Support project teams with design revisions and coordination changes throughout construction
• Stay current with BIM/VDC best practices and construction technology

What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years of BIM modeling/design experience within electrical contracting
• Experience working for an electrical contractor or electrical construction company strongly preferred
• Strong proficiency with Revit
• Experience with Navisworks
• Knowledge of commercial and/or industrial electrical systems
• Understanding of electrical construction methods and installation practices
• Experience with clash detection and trade coordinationAbility to read and interpret electrical construction drawings and specifications
• Experience producing shop drawings, layouts, or installation drawings
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with both office and field teams
• Self-motivated and comfortable working in a collaborative construction environment
