Goodwin Recruiting seeks a BIM Coordinator in Wilmington, NC to develop and manage 3D models for civil, water/wastewater, power, and industrial projects, from preconstruction through closeout. You will lead multi-trade coordination using Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and BIM 360, clash-detect issues, and drive resolution with design teams and subcontractors.

Visit jobsites, support field crews with coordinated layouts, prepare as-built models, and help improve schedule, cost, and installation

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or associate degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field, or equivalent experience.
2–5 years BIM/VDC with GC, trade, or engineering firm.
Strong knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and BIM 360/ACC.
Hands-on clash detection and multi-trade coordination experience.
Ability to read civil/structural/mechanical/electrical drawings and specs.
Understanding of construction means, methods, sequencing.
Strong communication; able to lead coordination meetings with teams.
Willingness to travel to Wilmington area and Southeast.

Responsibilities

Build and manage 3D models for civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and process scopes using Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and related tools.
Lead multi-trade coordination; run clash detection and drive issue resolution.
Facilitate coordination meetings and track clashes/RFIs; share notes and actions.
Support field crews with coordinated layouts and model-based quantity takeoffs.
Produce shop and fabrication drawings to support offsite fabrication.
Link models to project schedules (Primavera P6) for 4D sequencing.
Manage point cloud/laser scan data for existing conditions and tie-ins.
Set up project models in Autodesk Construction Cloud (BIM 360/ACC).
Develop and maintain BEPs, modeling standards, and templates.
Visit jobsites to verify conditions and gather feedback.
Prepare as-built models and digital turnover deliverables.
Train teams on BIM workflows and stay updated on VDC tech.

BIM Coordinator | General Construction

Location: Wilmington, NC

Position Summary

The BIM Coordinator will develop, manage, and coordinate 3D models and digital project information from preconstruction through closeout. Working closely with project managers, engineers, superintendents, self-perform trade teams, designers, and subcontractors, the BIM Coordinator will use model-based coordination to catch conflicts before they reach the field, support constructability and prefabrication, and improve accuracy across schedule, cost, and installation. This role is a key link between the office and the field on complex civil, water/wastewater, power, and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities

Build, maintain, and manage 3D models for civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and process scopes using Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and related tools.
Lead multi-trade coordination: combine design and trade models in Navisworks, run clash detection, document issues, and drive resolution with design teams and subcontractors.
Facilitate regular coordination meetings, track open clashes and RFIs, and distribute meeting notes and action items.
Support the company’s self-perform electrical, mechanical, and civil crews with coordinated layouts, installation drawings, and model-based quantity takeoffs.
Produce shop drawings, spool drawings, and prefabrication packages that support offsite fabrication and faster field installation.
Link models to project schedules (Primavera P6) for 4D sequencing, phasing, and logistics planning.
Manage point cloud and laser scan data for existing conditions, especially on plant upgrades, retrofits, and tie‑ins at operating facilities.
Set up and administer project models and documents in Autodesk Construction Cloud (BIM 360 / ACC), including folder structures, permissions, and version control.
Develop and maintain BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), modeling standards, templates, and families that follow company and owner requirements.
Visit jobsites to verify installed conditions against the model, support layout, and gather field feedback.
Prepare as‑built models and digital turnover deliverables for owners at project closeout.
Train and support project teams and field staff on model navigation, mobile tools, and BIM workflows.
Stay current on VDC technology and recommend tools and process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce rework.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s or associate degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
2–5 years of BIM/VDC experience with a general contractor, trade contractor, or engineering firm.
Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Revit, Navisworks Manage, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360.
Hands‑on clash detection and multi‑trade coordination experience.
Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and process drawings and specifications.
Solid understanding of construction means, methods, and sequencing.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead coordination meetings and work with designers, owners, and field crews.
Organized and detail‑oriented, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to jobsites in the Wilmington area and across the Southeast.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience on heavy civil, water/wastewater, power generation, industrial, or renewable energy projects.
Experience with Civil 3D, Plant 3D, Revit MEP, or Tekla Structures.
Experience with laser scanning and point cloud tools such as Autodesk ReCap or Trimble RealWorks.
Experience with 4D scheduling (Navisworks TimeLiner or Synchro) and Primavera P6.
Experience producing prefabrication and fabrication drawings for electrical or mechanical scopes.
Familiarity with alternative delivery methods such as Design‑Build, CMAR, and Progressive Design‑Build.
Autodesk certifications (Revit or Navisworks) or similar credentials.

Physical & Work Requirements

This position is mainly office‑based and requires extended computer work. Regular jobsite visits involve walking uneven terrain, climbing stairs and ladders, and working in outdoor and active industrial conditions while wearing required PPE.
