Job summary

Klinedinst PC in San Diego is seeking a Billing Specialist to own the full billing cycle for a portfolio of insurance defense and litigation matters. You will work closely with attorneys, assistants, and billing leadership to ensure accurate invoices that meet carrier and client guidelines and are submitted on time.

This high-visibility role requires precision, strong communication under deadlines, and the ability to navigate complex outside counsel guidelines.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on billing experience in a law firm.
• Experience with Aderant Expert and BillBlast.
• Familiar with e-billing portals and outside counsel guidelines.
• Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Detail-oriented with a multi-matter billing queue under deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Launch, review, finalize, and distribute client bills per client instructions.
• Revise prebills based on attorney feedback and adjust time entries.
• Apply retainer balances and split billing across matters.
• Ensure rate compliance and accuracy before submission.
• Submit invoices via e-billing portals and monitor status.
• Maintain knowledge of outside counsel guidelines for key clients.
• Support Billing Manager and assist with month-end close.
• Collaborate with collections to resolve discrepancies.
