Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; 1 year experience in medical billing or related duties; knowledge of CPT and ICD-10; basic math; 35 wpm typing speed preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Professional demeanor and time management skills and ability to work with peers and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Perform billing tasks assigned by management, including data entry, claim review, charge review, AR follow-up, insurance authorization, patient estimates, or related duties.
• Provide input on system edits, processes, policies, and billing procedures to maximize revenues.
• Process daily tasks in queues for claims, authorizations, and financial clearance according to manager assignments.
• Identify payer, provider credentialing, and/or coding issues and address them with management.
• Follow training workflows and request additional training as needed.
• Use Pathways as a guide to resolve unpaid or incorrectly paid claims and to authorize procedures or patient estimates.
• Review reports to identify revenue opportunities and unpaid claims.
• Adhere to compliance and confidentiality policies and interact with providers, patients, coders, and other stakeholders.
• Participate in workgroups and meetings and complete required training.
• Cross-cover other areas in the office as assigned (AR/Denials, Customer Service, or Authorizations).
