Job summary

Caring for Others is a family-owned home care provider in Oregon seeking a Billing Specialist to manage weekly and monthly billing across Medicaid/MMIS, LTCI, VA, Private Pay, OPI, and ElderPlace. You’ll ensure timely processing to support month-end and year-end close, while maintaining accurate records across all payer types.

You will enter and track authorizations, prepare Private Pay invoices, resolve denials, and collaborate with care teams to keep billing compliant and efficient.

Qualifications

  • Proactive, solution-oriented self-starter who works independently.
  • Experience with insurance billing, Medicaid/MMIS, authorizations, or claims processing is preferred.
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping practices.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and process weekly billing across payer types including Medicaid/MMIS, LTCI, VA, Private Pay, OPI, and ElderPlace.
  • Enter, process, and track client authorizations with Medicaid Case Managers.
  • Prepare, print, and mail Private Pay invoices weekly with accuracy.
  • Support month-end and year-end close by meeting deadlines and guidelines.
  • Resolve billing denials promptly with the appropriate teams.
  • Maintain accurate billing records across payer types and branches.
  • Perform clerical duties and generate reports as needed.
  • Cross-train on additional duties to support operations.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Billing Specialist manages weekly and monthly billing across multiple payer types — including Medicaid/MMIS, LTCI, VA, Private Pay, OPI, and ElderPlace — ensuring accurate, timely processing to support month-end and year-end close.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • • Manage and process weekly billing across all payer types, including Medicaid/MMIS, LTCI, VA/Paradigm, Private Pay, and ElderPlace, plus monthly OPI billing
  • • Enter, process, and track Client authorizations in coordination with Medicaid Case Managers
  • • Prepare, print, and mail Private Pay invoices weekly, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • • Support month-end and year-end close by completing all billing per Company deadlines and guidelines
  • • Coordinate with the appropriate team members to promptly resolve and reprocess billing denials
  • • Maintain accurate billing records and documentation across all payer types and branches
  • • Perform clerical duties, including sorting and filing correspondence and preparing reports as needed
  • • Cross-train on additional duties to support departmental and company operations
ROLE QUALIFICATIONS
  • • High school diploma or GED required; accounting, finance, or healthcare coursework preferred
  • • 1–3 years of experience in billing, accounting, accounts receivable, or administrative support
  • • Experience with insurance billing, Medicaid/MMIS, authorizations, or claims processing preferred
  • • Proficient with Microsoft Office, data entry, and billing/accounting software
  • • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping practices
  • • Able to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust across all levels
  • • Committed to compliance, HIPAA standards, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information

  • Background in senior care, assisted living, skilled nursing, or in-home care
