Formación

Certification in medical billing and coding (CPC, CCS-P) preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience, preferably in ophthalmology.

The Billing Specialist at Atlantic Eye is responsible for managing the billing processes to ensure accurate and timely submission of claims, processing payments, and resolving billing issues. This role requires a detail‑oriented individual with strong organizational and communication skills to handle sensitive patient information and interact with insurance companies.

Responsibilities

Prepare and submit insurance claims for services rendered.
Post payments from insurance companies and patients.
Reconcile payments and resolve discrepancies.
Analyze the aging report to identify accounts with overdue balances, focusing on claims that require immediate attention based on age and priority.
Follow up on unpaid claims and investigate reasons for denials.
Generate and send out patient statements.
Handle patient billing inquiries and resolve any issues.
Set up and manage payment plans for patients as necessary.
Utilize correct coding practices for procedures (CPT, ICD‑10).
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA.
Maintain patient confidentiality and secure handling of patient records.

Qualifications
