Brief Description:

The Billing Improvement Manager will play a critical role in enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of the billing and collections process. This position involves collaborating with various leaders to identify issues, analyze data, and implement effective solutions to reduce billing errors and improve overall performance. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, be detail-oriented, and have a proven track record of driving process improvements in a billing environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Identify the Problem: Define the billing and collections problems, analyze symptoms, and isolate contributing factors to ensure accurate diagnosis.
  • Collect Data: Gather relevant data, including incident reports, logs, and stakeholder interviews to provide a comprehensive understanding of the issues.
  • Determine the Root Cause: Utilize collaborative techniques, such as brainstorming sessions, to identify the underlying causes of billing errors and inefficiencies.
  • Implement a Solution: Propose actionable solutions, develop a structured action plan, and work with teams to implement changes effectively.
  • Document the Actions: Maintain thorough documentation of the identified problems, analyses, solutions, and recommendations for ongoing improvement efforts.
  • Actively support efforts to ensure accuracy and timeliness in billing processes, focusing on reducing and/or eliminating billing errors.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in billing, collections, or revenue cycle management, with a focus on process improvement.
  • Proven experience in project management and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
  • Proficiency in billing software and tools, along with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
  • Occasional lifting of files and documents, typically not exceeding 10 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and via telephone.
