Job summary

Cuyuna Regional Medical Center is seeking a Billing Denials Specialist to optimize claim reimbursements and resolve patient credit discrepancies. You will interact with the Denials Committee and Business Office to communicate updates and education.

Ideal candidates are analytical, independent workers with strong communication and leadership skills, capable of adapting to change, and detail-oriented in a dynamic healthcare billing environment.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in healthcare or business administration and/or related coursework -OR- comparable experience of three (3) years in a related healthcare field
• Successful completion of data entry, general clerical, ten key, and denials specialist standards administered by Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Human Resources staff

Responsibilities

• Manage and appeal insurance claim denials to optimize reimbursement.
• Identify and resolve credit discrepancies in patient accounts.
• Present updates to the Denials Committee and Business Office staff.
• Train newer staff and oversee daily tasks for compliance and efficiency.
• Flexibility in scheduling, including rotating shifts.

A Day in the Life of a Billing Denials Specialist

• In the role of Denials Specialist, you will be at the forefront of managing and appealing insurance claim denials, ensuring accuracy and optimizing reimbursement for the facility.
• You will also be responsible for identifying and resolving credit discrepancies in patient accounts and supporting audit processes.
• Regular interaction with the Denials Committee and Business Office staff through monthly and quarterly presentations is key to communicating updates and educational content to improve departmental performance.
• Leadership responsibilities include training newer staff and overseeing their daily tasks to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• This position requires flexibility in scheduling, including potential rotating shifts, and the ability to adapt quickly to the changing needs of the department.
