Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer II for the Billing Data Services (BiDS) team. You will build scalable systems to capture, store, and serve authoritative AWS billing data, working upstream of bill computation systems.

You will ingest data from pricing, subscriptions, and entitlements, ensuring high availability, low latency, and data quality for downstream billing pipelines used by many AWS teams.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Responsibilities

• Write high-quality, efficient, and testable code in Java and other object-oriented languages.
• Build large-scale, highly available distributed systems for ingesting, storing, and serving authoritative billing data at the scale of all of AWS.
• Design storage and serving paths that meet demanding freshness, accuracy, and latency requirements for downstream billing pipelines.
• Partner with downstream teams on schema and data contract changes, ensuring migrations are backward compatible and do not disrupt pipelines.
• Own and operate the systems you build, upholding data quality, correctness, and operational rigor.
• Contribute to planning, design, implementation, testing, operations, and process improvement as a Scrum team member.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers across Commerce Platform teams to deliver features and drive best practices adoption.
