Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Health System is seeking a skilled medical billing/coding professional to ensure accurate processing of insurance and patient accounts in a physician office setting. The role focuses on denials management, correct coding, and efficient claim transmission.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, certified coder credentials preferred, and 3 years of billing experience in a physician practice.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Certified Coder in Medical or Professional Coding preferred
• 3 years of experience in physician office insurance or billing preferred
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Good data entry skills
• Familiarity with medical record content and ICD-CM/CPT4 coding principles
• Ability to assign accurate codes using good judgement within broad guidelines
• Flexible and capable of intense concentration in a busy environment

Responsibilities

• Ensure highly productive, efficient, and accurate billing flow
• Monitor insurance denials through rejection reports, research, processing and follow-up
• Assist in monitoring correct coding and charge entry processes
• Coordinate and monitor all insurance processing
• Troubleshoot software/hardware problems related to claims processing
• Ensure compliance with Federal regulations for maximum reimbursement
• Process claims, edit and correct errors and transmit to third party payers and clearing houses
• Post all insurance and patient payments and adjustments
• Review next day schedule for insurance accuracy, patient balances and eligibility
• Perform other duties as assigned
