Knowledge of CPT codes, 1+ year medical billing experience, and proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office are required; duties include following up on past due accounts and supporting other departments as needed.

The Billing Clerk will submit claims, monitor account balances, collect patient information and payments. Must maintain accurate accounting of patient account balances, generate, and send out invoices, follow up on past due accounts in accordance with clinic, state, and federal regulation. Will assist other departments as needed.

The incumbent will carry-out duties by adhering to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, acts in the best interest of Three Crosses Regional Hospital, and fully supports the mission, vision, and values of Three Crosses Regional Hospital. The incumbent will have knowledge of health care systems, and have demonstrated ability to interact, relate to, work with, and support the activities of a diverse workforce.

Primary Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance of billing with Managed Care Organizations and Third Party Billing
• Investigate billing issues as they arise and resolve them to ensure accurate and timely billing
• Answer incoming calls related to billing
• Ensure the timely and accurate billing of assigned customer accounts
• Review claims for accuracy before submission.
• Reports discrepancies to supervisor.
• Audit EMR System to ensure that all documents are finalized.
• Primary Point of contact for the agency regarding any billing questions, barriers, or updates.
• Training staff on EMR Process
• Prepare bills and invoices for medical services and services received.
• Collect and maintain patient insurance and financial information
• Monitors debts and unresolved patient accounts by filing claims and other means as necessary
• Attend meetings as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Working with and understanding carriers that both in and out of network
• Working knowledge of commercial insurance carrier billing requirements

Education and Experience:

• Required: High School Diploma or GED
• Required: 1+ years medical billing experience
