Job summary

The State of Alaska is seeking an Accounting Technician 1 in Anchorage to manage billing, receipts, and data entry for boiler inspection operations. You will verify data in the billing system, prepare financial reports, and resolve discrepancies while supporting the Mechanical Inspection team.

Qualifications

• One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.
• Formal vocational accounting program may substitute for the required experience.
• Postsecondary education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours = 1 month).

Responsibilities

• Billing, collection, and processing of boiler inspection receipts.
• Verifying accuracy of data in the billing system.
• Preparing financial reports and reconciling discrepancies.
• Contact customers with overdue accounts and re-billing as necessary.
• Provide administrative support to the Mechanical Inspection section.
• Backup coverage for the Occupational Licensing Examiner: front desk, data entry, and proctoring examinations.
