Job summary

East Hartford Public Schools seeks a bilingual (Spanish/English) paraprofessional to support the ESL/Bilingual program. The role involves direct classroom assistance with Pre‑K to 12 students, tutoring in basic skills, and coordinating with teachers and families.

Reporting to the Building Principal or K‑12 Supervisor of World Languages, Gifted & Talented, ESL and Bilingual Programs, this position runs six hours daily on a ten‑month schedule. Salary is hourly with medical benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Direct classroom experience with children, Pre‑K to Twelve.
• Fluent in English and Spanish languages, both written and oral, preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance in basic skills.
• Tutors small group instruction.
• Monitors homework centers.
• Reinforces study and organizational skills.
• Interacts with parents, teachers and other support staff.
• Assists with conflict resolution and peer mediation sessions.
• Other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor of ESL/Bilingual or the building principal.
