Job summary

Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store leadership and ensure smooth daily operations in a fast-paced retail environment.

This role handles all duties in the manager's absence, supervises staff and volunteers, and drives sales while maintaining safety and a welcoming storefront. Weekend availability is required, with flexibility for evenings and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of supervisory experience in retail or related environment.
• Strong people leadership, customer service, and merchandising skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager in all aspects of store operations.
• Supervise, train, schedule, and coach retail employees and volunteers.
• Lead by example in delivering excellent customer and donor service.
• Help achieve sales, production, and expense control goals.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized store environment.
• Investigate and document accidents, injuries, and safety issues.
• Oversee merchandising, inventory flow, and sales floor presentation.
• Address customer concerns and promote Goodwill’s mission and values.
• Assume store leadership responsibilities when the Store Manager is absent.
