Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED completed.
• Completion of Teacher Assisting Curriculum and passing ParaPro or equivalent.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English and the language of ELL students.
• Sensitive to other cultures; able to work with students and use computers.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic assistance to students in home language as directed by the teacher.
• Confer with teachers on programs and materials to meet student needs.
• Assist in evaluating student progress and communicating with parents.
• Translate communications between home and school for non-English speakers.
• Support ESOL eligibility testing and related assessments as needed.
