Job summary

Broward County Public Schools is seeking a Teacher Assistant - Bilingual (Creole) in Lauderdale Lakes, FL. The role supports bilingual instructional activities, prepares instructional materials, and assists in classroom instruction under teacher supervision.

Required is a high school diploma or GED, and passing the ParaPro or equivalent; fluency in English and Creole; strong computer skills; and preferred are an associate degree or 60 credits.

Qualifications

• Standard high school diploma or GED.
• Passing score on the ParaPro Test or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English and Creole/target language.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic assistance to students in home language or English as directed by the teacher.
• Confer with teachers regarding materials to meet student needs.
• Assist in evaluating student progress and communicate feedback to students and parents.
• Assist with ESOL testing and related assessments.
• Provide translation between home and school for non-English speaking parents.
• Serve on the ELL committee and assist ESOL parent councils as interpreter/translator.
• Perform non-instructional duties as assigned and follow school policies.
