Qualifications

• High School Diploma and Paraprofessional Certification; thirty (30) semester hours of college credit preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher and reinforce lesson materials and skills.
• Administer and record achievement and test scores for individual students.
• Work with individual students or in small groups to reinforce instruction.
• Collaborate with the teacher to design strategies to reinforce lessons and address individual needs.
• Operate and maintain classroom equipment used for instructional purposes.
• Distribute and collect workbooks and instructional materials.
• Provide guidance for independent study and remedial work as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with large group activities such as reading aloud and storytelling.
• Read to students and participate in reading and speech activities.
• Provide assistance to students in the Library Media Center.
• Monitor notebooks and supervise testing as needed.
• Provide information to substitute teachers and participate in student conferences.
