Job summary

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
• At least 21 years of age.
• TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements.
• Own vehicle, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record.
• Experience working with children/youth and families with complex and enduring needs preferred.
• Experience implementing family-focused services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide counseling and case management services for enrolled youth and their families.
• Support clients to connect to natural supports and community resources.
• Provide crisis intervention and other mental health services as needed at homes, schools, and community locations.
• Participate in treatment reviews, staff meetings, and IEP meetings when necessary.
• Complete mental health notes and service tracking documentation as indicated.
• Assist with planning arrangements and transportation for school, therapy, and court hearings; provide emergency on-call support as scheduled.
• Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques per Seneca training.

Job description

The Bilingual Support Counselor provides family-centered mental health counseling, support, crisis intervention, and case management services for youth and their families. Bilingual Support Counselors are members of a multi-disciplinary team and provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive services in the community at times and locations convenient to the family.

About Wraparound

Wraparound is a family planning process that provides therapeutic support to youth and families in the community with the intention of enhancing natural resources and keeping youth in the least restrictive and most family-like setting, with the intention of reducing the need for institutional care. Services range up to 12 months and include regular Child and Family Team Meetings that support youth and families with identifying strengths, creating realistic goals, and developing a comprehensive step-by-step plan based on those goals. Youth and families are referred directly by Contra Costa County (CCC) Children and Family Services, the CCC Juvenile Probation Department, CCC Children’s Behavioral Health, or Kaiser.

Responsibilities

• Support client and family to connect to natural supports and community-based resources
• Provide crisis intervention and other mental health services as needed at client homes, schools, and other community locations
• Participate in all treatment reviews, program staff meetings, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings when necessary
• Complete mental health notes and other paperwork, and complete service tracking documentation as indicated
• Assist with planning arrangements and transportation for school, therapy appointments, and court hearings as neededParticipate in providing emergency on-call response as scheduled
• Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques as per Seneca's crisis response training
• This may include intervening with the students’ behavioral program through physical management
  

Qualifications

Required:

• Education/Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree OR
• Associate degree or equivalent + 1 year of applicable experience OR
• High School Diploma/GED + 2 years of applicable experience
• Applicable experience can include paid or unpaid experience working with youth or families or working in the social services field
• Bilingual in English and Spanish required
• At least 21 years of age
• TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements
• Own vehicle, valid driver's license, clean driving record required
• Experience working with children/youth and families with complex and enduring needs preferred
• Experience implementing family-focused services preferred

Schedule

• Full-time
• Tuesday - Saturday 9 am-5:30 pm
• Hybrid; provide in-person services & complete documentation remote
• Travel throughout all of Contra Costa County on a potential daily basis
• On Call
• At least one 24 hour on call shift per month in which to support crisis calls, during the week and/or weekends
