Job summary

Seneca Family of Agencies is seeking a Community-Based Counselor to deliver family-centered mental health counseling, crisis intervention, and case management for youth in Solano County. The role operates within a wraparound program in the community, including homes, schools, and group settings.

The position emphasizes trauma-informed, culturally responsive services, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and participation in IEP reviews and team meetings.

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree OR Associate degree or equivalent + 1 year of applicable experience OR High School Diploma/GED + 2 years of applicable experience.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability through Seneca Family of Agencies’ insurance policy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide counseling and case management services for enrolled youth and their families.
  • Support client and family to connect to natural supports and community-based resources.
  • Provide crisis intervention and other mental health services as needed at client homes, schools, and other community locations.
  • Participate in treatment reviews, program staff meetings, and IEP meetings when necessary.
  • Complete mental health notes and other paperwork, and complete service tracking documentation as indicated.
  • Assist with planning arrangements and transportation for school, therapy appointments, and court hearings as needed.
  • Attend team meetings, weekly trainings, individual and group supervisions, and adhere to clinical best practices.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule.
  • Participate in providing emergency on-call response as scheduled.
  • Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques as per Seneca's crisis response training.

  • Pay or shift range: $24.76 USD to $27.26 USD
    The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
Description

The Community-Based Counselor provides family-centered mental health counseling, support, crisis intervention, and case management services for youth and their families. Community-Based Counselors are members of a multi-disciplinary team and provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive services in the community at times and locations convenient to the family.

Solano Wraparound Program serves Solano County children and adolescents between 5 - 17 years of age in the Child Welfare, Probation and Mental Health systems that are transitioning from or are at risk of going to out of home care or juvenile hall. The Wraparound approach focuses on supporting children by enhancing natural resources within their families and communities so that they can live in the least restrictive, most family-like setting possible. Services are primarily held in the community: in families’ homes, group homes, foster homes, schools, etc.

  • Demonstrate professional behavior at all times in accordance with Seneca's mission and philosophy.
  • All other duties as assigned by program and agency leadership.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Education/Experience Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree OR
    • Associate degree or equivalent + 1 year of applicable experience OR
    • High School Diploma/GED + 2 years of applicable experience may be accepted in programs that do not have a written contract requiring a Bachelor’s degree as a minimum education level.
    • Applicable experience can include paid or unpaid experience working with youth or families or working in the social services field.
  • At least 21 years of age.

Preferred

  • Experience working with children/youth and families with complex and enduring needs.

Schedule

  • Full-time
    • Sunday - Thursday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM

    • Services are provided in-person
  • Starting at$24.76 - $27.26per hour
    • Actual salary is dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role.
    • Salary increases each year.
    • Additional compensation upon passing bilingual proficiency exam.
