Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor for the City of New York seeks a Part-Time Translator Interpreter (Bilingual-Spanish) to support its Interpreter Services Unit. The role focuses on accurate translation, interpretation, and transcription of Spanish-language communications for investigations and prosecutions in New York City and beyond.

Requirements include English and Spanish fluency, familiarity with legal terminology, and 3–5 years of translation/interpretation experience.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and Spanish (oral and written); native fluency preferred but not required.
• Ability to handle a variety of accents, slang, and colloquial Spanish expressions.
• Detail-oriented with ability to produce high-quality work product.
• Ability to meet case-related deadlines, often under pressure.
• Organized and responsive to assignments; works well in teams.
• Experience with legal terminology is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Translate, interpret, and transcribe Spanish communications accurately.
• Provide testimony before grand jury and trial when required.
• Identify and translate Spanish language evidence from devices.
• Provide simultaneous interpretation during proffers, debriefings, and meetings with Spanish-speaking individuals.
• Provide other translation and interpretation services as needed.
