Position Overview
Seeking a compassionate and dedicated Bilingual Spanish-Speaking Paraprofessional to provide 1:1 support for a 4th-grade student. This role is critical in supporting the student's communication, safety, social interactions, and overall educational experience throughout the school day.
The ideal candidate will be fluent in both Spanish and English and have a passion for helping students succeed both academically and socially.
Student Support Details
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a 4th-grade student.
- Assist the student throughout the entire school day, including:
- Classroom activities
- Lunch and recess
- Transitions between activities
- Non-academic settings
- Meet the student at morning bus arrival and support them until afternoon dismissal.
- Help facilitate communication between the student, peers, teachers, and school staff.
- Support the student's well-being, safety, and access to learning opportunities.
Student Profile
- Student primarily communicates in Spanish.
- Limited English proficiency.
- Currently communicates using single words and approximated sounds.
- Not literate in any language at this time.
- Uses a variety of communication strategies to express needs and ideas.
- Strong Spanish language skills are essential to help understand and support the student's communication patterns.
Responsibilities
- Act as a communication bridge between the student and school community.
- Support classroom participation and engagement.
- Assist with social interactions and peer relationships.
- Encourage independence while providing appropriate support.
- Help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and school personnel.
- Assist the student with emotional regulation and coping strategies when needed.
Qualifications
- Fluent bilingual Spanish and English required.
- Massachusetts Paraprofessional certification preferred.
- Experience working with children in educational settings preferred.
- Experience assisting students with communication differences or emotional regulation is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Patient, compassionate, and student-focused approach.
