NC MedAssist in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Bilingual Pharmacy Technician to support prescription processing, data entry, and patient interaction. Under the supervision of the Assistant Operations Manager, you will assist pharmacists and handle packaging, postage, and basic inventory tasks.

This role requires English and Spanish fluency, strong customer service, and attention to accuracy in a fast-paced pharmacy setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Registered or willing to become registered with the NC Board of Pharmacy.
• CPHT certification preferred but not required.
• Minimum 1 year of pharmacy experience.
• Fluent in English and Spanish with strong verbal communication.
• Team player with patient-centered approach.

Responsibilities

• Process prescriptions and data entry in pharmacy software.
• Count, fill, and label prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
• Counsel patients during in-person pickups when appropriate.
• Assist at the patient window and by phone with courteous service.
• Inventory management and alert staff to shortages or issues.
• Maintain formulary knowledge and adhere to procedures.

Bilingual Pharmacy Technician

Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for many pharmacy workflow tasks, including but not limited to data entry of prescriptions, counting and filling prescriptions, packaging and printing postage for completed prescriptions, and various inventory functions. He/she assists patients in-person and via telephone with typical, non-clinical questions, and assists pharmacists wherever possible to ensure accurate and efficient dispensing of prescriptions.

Performance Requirements:

3. Ability to perform duties accurately and efficiently.
4. Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills.
5. Adhere to all rules and regulations of the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Reconcile daily McKesson order against invoice and provide invoice to Office Manager.
2. PrintPAP reports or otherwise identify PAP medications as necessary for ordering by PAP coordinator.
3. Service patient window and/or telephone with excellent customer service skills via a positive service demeanor to determine the needs of the client.
4. Screen incoming prescriptions and refill requests to ensure active certification and appropriate patient information (patient name, date of birth, allergies, etc.) is recorded and legible.
5. Fills prescriptions, as defined by statute, for patients under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist:
   1. Enter prescription information into the pharmacy software system promptly and accurately.
   2. Obtain the appropriate drug product.
   3. Count the proper number of dosage units to be dispensed.
   4. Label drug product properly
   5. Has pharmacist review and dispense completed prescription.
   6. For in-person encounters, provides the offer to counsel to all patients picking up medications.
   7. Packages and provides postage as necessary for mailing purposes.
6. Assists in inventory management (pharmaceuticals and supplies). Alerts pharmacy staff members of drug shortages or other potential problems ( i.e. expired medications, backordered products, etc.)
7. Maintain a working knowledge of the pharmacy software system, including ability to enter new patient registrations, fill prescriptions (new and refills), and fill a prescription utilizing barcode accuracy scan.
8. Maintain a working knowledge of NC MedAssist formulary and eligibility requirements.
9. Follow the chain of command when the Assistant Operations Manager or Director of Pharmacy is not available.
10. The Pharmacy Technician will be directly supervised by the Assistant Operations Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must have a high school diploma or GED
2. Must be registered (in good standing), or willing to become registered with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy
3. National technician certification (Cpht) preferred, but not required
4. Must have at least 1 year of previous pharmacy experience
5. Must have excellent verbal communication skills
6. Must be fluent in both English and Spanish and be able to speak, read and write in both languages.
7. Must be willing to participate as part of a team to establish relationships that foster optimal quality of patient care.

COMPENSATION

Compensation range is hourly and based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience and skills.
