Job summary

The Nutrition Navigator position at Chinese American Planning Council's MSS in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, focuses on prescreening and assisting with SNAP and immigration benefits for immigrant families across New York City.

You will engage in outreach, coordinate with city departments, and prepare funding reports while building community trust and ensuring access to resources. A bachelor’s degree is preferred, bilingual English/Chinese required, and travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social science or related field preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent with at least two years of direct social service experience considered in lieu of a bachelor's.
• Bilingual in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) and English required.
• Good oral communication and computer skills; comfortable with database software.

Responsibilities

• Review eligibility for the federal SNAP program and other benefits as appropriate.
• Assist eligible individuals and families with the SNAP application process and follow-up.
• Engage in mediation with HRA and partners to troubleshoot SNAP issues and enroll families.
• Process SNAP applications through AccessNYC.gov.
• Respond to information requests and conduct outreach at community events and pop-up sites.
• Prepare reports required by funding sources and attend trainings as directed.
