Job summary

The Center for Family Life in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, is seeking a Small Business Developer (Spanish-English bilingual) to support worker cooperatives through development, technical assistance and training. On-site role in Sunset Park, with a focus on social equity and community empowerment.

Responsibilities include facilitating workshops, developing governance structures, conducting research, and coordinating projects within the Cooperative Development Program.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and Spanish required.
• Experience facilitating workshops and meetings.
• Strong project management and collaboration skills.
• Experience teaching business skills to adults (popular education methods).
• Commitment to social justice and economic empowerment, especially for low-income women.

Responsibilities

• Business Development: Organize and inspire community groups to develop cooperative businesses; Support workers in establishing governance and management systems; Collaborate with partners; Provide guidance and resources; Refine CFL’s tools.
• Technical Assistance: Deliver hands-on business management support; Coach worker-owners; Conduct market/legal research; Mediate conflicts.
• Training Facilitation: Identify training needs; Design workshops; Facilitate workshops for adults.
• Project Management: Use PM tools; Ensure clear communication; Adapt strategies; Meet deliverables.
• Program Administration: Participate in meetings, data tracking, reporting; Contribute to outreach and special projects.
