Job summary

Vertical Mechanical Group (VMG) is seeking a proactive Site Safety Coordinator to promote safe work environments across multiple active construction projects in the DMV area. The role partners with project managers, superintendents, and field personnel to ensure OSHA compliance and safety program execution.

The ideal candidate is bilingual (English/Spanish), has OSHA 30, and can travel to active sites regularly, delivering training and leading safety initiatives with a hands-on approach.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of construction safety experience, preferably in commercial mechanical construction.
• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish required.
• Current OSHA 30 certification required.
• CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
• Excellent communication, coaching, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to travel regularly to active project sites throughout the DMV area.

Responsibilities

• Promote and enforce VMG safety policies and procedures across active construction sites.
• Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and job-hazard assessments.
• Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and recommend corrective actions.
• Follow up with field leadership to ensure safety concerns are addressed promptly.
• Monitor compliance with OSHA standards and applicable regulations.
• Support jobsite emergency-response planning and other safety initiatives.
• Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, accidents, and near misses.
• Document findings and identify contributing factors and root causes.
• Recommend preventive measures and track corrective actions through completion.
• Conduct new-hire safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing field training.
• Communicate safety expectations clearly to English- and Spanish-speaking employees.
• Partner with project managers, superintendents, and field leadership to reinforce accountability.
• Coach employees on safe work practices and proper procedures.
• Help build a proactive, team-oriented safety culture across VMG projects.
• Maintain accurate inspection reports, incident records, training documentation, and compliance files.
• Track safety observations and follow-up activities.
• Prepare and communicate safety updates to project leadership.
