Job summary

Self-Help for the Elderly is seeking a Regular On-Call ROC in San Francisco to manage daily center operations and coordinate activities for seniors. You will ensure proper setup, safety, and service delivery across programs.

The role requires strong leadership, bilingual English/Chinese, and the ability to work with diverse communities. Travel, health screenings, and required certifications are part of the position.

Qualifications

• College degree preferred or HS diploma with 3+ years in community service.
• Self-motivated with leadership skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Bilingual in English and Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet.
• TB health screening required.
• Lift up to 30 pounds; strength test may be required.
• CPR and First Aid certificates within 3 months.
• Willing to travel; CA driver license required.
• California Food Manager Certification within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Manages the center program operations including coordinating, developing, and implementing activities, classes, and special events. Ensures rooms are set up and cleaned daily according to the activity schedule and lease agreement.
• Monitors program quality and quantity. Ensures all governmental and agency regulations and policies are followed by the staff and volunteers.
• Recruits, trains, and supervises center staff and volunteers to ensure efficient operation of the center. Coordinate volunteer support.
• Ensures the site is clean, attractive, and safe for participants. Keeps furniture and equipment of the center in good working condition and arranges for repairs and maintenance as needed.
• Maintains all food, supplies, and equipment inventory. Prepares monthly inventory reports.
• Provides translation, information, and referrals for program participants and the public.
• Registers all participants of the center using the intake forms. Compiles monthly reports. Conducts service surveys as needed.
• Collects and deposits participants’ donations for nutrition, social activities, and classes. Keeps daily financial reports.
• Conducts community outreach to target populations to ensure that targeted communities have access to the center.
• Attends staff meetings and other community meetings as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
