Job summary

Baltimore County Public Schools is seeking a qualified language interpreter/translator to support communication between staff, students, families, and the public. The role requires travel to multiple schools to provide high-quality interpretation and translation services across educational settings.

The position emphasizes confidentiality, cultural mediation, and skilled communication in both English and a foreign language, with requirements including a high school diploma and background check

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent in a foreign language.
• Knowledge of the educational process and system.
• Ability to travel to schools throughout the system.

Responsibilities

• Interpret spoken communication between parents, students, and school personnel.
• Provide interpretation for Infants and Toddlers Program, Child Find Program, special education meetings and assessments, parent-teacher conferences, school events and assemblies, attendance and suspension hearings.
• Perform sight translations of short written texts as needed.
• Act as a cultural broker to bridge cultural gaps between schools and multilingual families.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
