Job summary

TrulyHired in Charlotte, NC seeks an Interpreter/Translator to bridge communication between district staff and families. The role supports schools and central offices by providing interpreting and translating services in languages other than English.

You will work with multilingual families, attend meetings, assist with enrollment and orientation, and help ensure accessibility of information. A bilingual English and Spanish or other language, high school diploma, and two years related experience

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and another language required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years related work experience required.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all laws, policies, and procedures.
• Provide interpreting and translating services for assigned schools or departments.
• Collaborate with staff to inform parents about curriculum, assessments, and policies in a language they understand.
• Promote parent/school partnerships and assist ML families.
• Communicate with families through meetings, calls, website, and newsletters; edit text when needed.
• Attend and interpret IEP meetings, parent conferences, and related events.
• Assist ML families with enrollment, hardship, and residency applications.
• Assist school personnel with home visits to support attendance.
• Translate letters, forms, newsletters, and other correspondence.
• Identify and resolve conflicts related to word meanings and concepts.
• Respond to parent/guardian calls and voicemails; maintain logs.
• Assist language minority families with enrollment processes.
• Assist with WIDA Screener testing administration.
• Participate in professional development and other meetings.
• Perform related work as assigned.
