Qualifications

• Two (2) years of paid or volunteer work with individuals and groups, with ability to explain materials and encourage participation.
• Must be able to establish rapport with individuals and groups and elicit pertinent information.
• Ability to speak effectively with individuals and groups and to relate parents' concerns to staff.
• Plan and conduct group information sessions and prepare activity reports.
• Knowledge of Chuukese culture and ability to speak Chuukese language.
• Specialized experience showing knowledge of Chuukese communities.

Responsibilities

• Serves as liaison to assist in promoting cooperation and understanding between parents and school and project personnel.
• Explains school programs, policies and procedures to parents; translates and relates parents' concerns to project and school staff.
• Seeks community resources and maintains a file of these resources; suggests resources to assist parents with their problems.
• Encourages parents to participate in school activities and assists in organizing Parent Advisory Groups.
• Assists in planning and developing projects to increase parent participation in school-related activities.
• Plans for and/or conducts information and interest sessions for parents.
