Job summary

Hawaii State Department of Education is seeking a Bilingual/Bicultural School-Home Assistant for the Hawaii location. Qualifications

Two (2) years of paid or volunteer work experience with individuals and groups, with ability to explain materials.
Ability to establish rapport and encourage participation in programs.
Ability to speak effectively with individuals and groups and to elicit pertinent information.
Experience planning and conducting group information sessions.
Ability to prepare activity reports.
Recognize and identify basic individual human needs.

Responsibilities

Serve as liaison to promote cooperation between parents, school, and project personnel.
Assist in solving students' educational and related problems.
Disseminate project information to parents and translate concerns to staff.
Identify community resources and maintain a file of resources.
Encourage parental participation in school activities.
Organize Parent Advisory Groups and support parent participation in projects.
Plan and conduct information sessions for parents.
Translate information on social and health programs as needed.
Participate in training programs and prepare activity reports.
