Job summary

Ocean Mist in Castroville, CA is seeking a Safety Specialist to lead the Injury and Illness Prevention Program, deliver health and safety training, and coordinate workers’ compensation activities across field, cooler and plant operations. A related degree, 5+ years of safety experience, bilingual English/Spanish, a CA license, OSHA/IIPP knowledge, and MS

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Associate degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on occupational safety experience.
• Bilingual fluency in English/Spanish is required.
• Valid California Class C driver’s license.
• Willingness to relocate to Coachella for the season and travel to multiple sites.
• Strong communication, documentation and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and safety data tracking.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and administer safety programs (SMS, IIPP, Emergency Action Plan).
• Conduct safety orientations and develop training materials.
• Deliver monthly safety trainings and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Travel to and support site safety trainings and tailgate meetings.
• Document training records and assist with records retention and audits.
• Perform site inspections, safety audits, and assist with OSHA inspections.
• Investigate injuries, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Track safety metrics and prepare periodic reports.
