Job summary

Basden Steel Corporation is seeking a Safety and Risk Coordinator to ensure a safe working environment in our steel fabrication facilities. The role focuses on implementing and improving safety programs, regulatory compliance, and fostering a strong safety culture across all departments.

The candidate must be bilingual (English/Spanish) and bring experience in industrial safety, audits, and incident investigations. Occasional travel to multiple locations and active recordkeeping are required.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's in Occupational Safety or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of safety experience in an industrial or fabrication environment (steel/fabrication preferred).
• Strong knowledge of OSHA 1910 general industry regulations and applicable ANSI, NFPA, and EPA standards.
• Experience conducting training, audits, and incident investigations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments on the shop floor and fabrication areas.
• Manage Worker's Comp claims and incident investigations.
• Lead safety training for new hires and ongoing workforce certifications (e.g., forklift, CPR/First Aid).
• Maintain accurate records of injuries, training, inspections, and incident reports.
• Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agency visits (OSHA, fire department, EPA).
• Coordinate with supervisors to ensure safety measures are integrated into daily operations.
• Participate in or lead Safety Committee meetings and continuous improvement efforts.
