Job summary

R.R. Cassidy, Inc. is seeking a bilingual Safety Representative to promote and enforce a strong safety culture across construction sites. You will monitor operations for OSHA compliance, identify hazards, and implement corrective actions with hands-on electrical trade insight.

The role requires a journeyman/electrician background, OSHA 30 hours, and the ability to communicate credibly with crews in English and Spanish. Travel to multiple sites and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred.
  • Journeyman electrician, electrical apprentice, lineman, or equivalent hands-on electrical trade experience (2–4 years preferred).
  • OSHA 30‑Hour Construction certification required.
  • Working knowledge of electrical hazards, energized/de-energized work practices, grounding, and PPE in construction/utility settings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with credibility to speak to field crews.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular job site safety inspections and audits; document findings and track corrective actions.
  • Evaluate crew work around electrical hazards to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Verify proper use of lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE, and rubber goods during electrical work.
  • Lead or support daily safety briefings and pre-job hazard assessments.
  • Investigate incidents and root causes; propose corrective actions.
  • Maintain OSHA logs and safety records; coordinate training.
  • Collaborate with project leaders to address safety concerns without delaying work.
  • Deliver safety training including new-hire orientation and electrical safe work practices.
  • Stop work for imminent danger and assist in emergency response on site.
  • Stay updated on OSHA/NESC/DOT changes and communicate updates.

About this Role

R.R. Cassidy is looking for a Bilingual Safety Representative is responsible for promoting and enforcing a strong safety culture across assigned job sites, with a focus on construction, utility, and electrical work environments. This role monitors field operations for compliance with OSHA and company safety standards, identifies and corrects hazards before they result in incidents. Candidates with a journeyman-level or apprentice electrical trade background are strongly preferred, as this experience provides direct, hands‑on understanding of electrical hazards, work practices, and crew operations in the field.

What You’ll Do
  • Conduct regular job site safety inspections and audits, documenting findings and tracking corrective actions to completion.
  • Observe and evaluate crew work practices around electrical hazards, including energized lines, transformers, substations, arc flash exposure, and grounding procedures, to ensure compliance with NESC, NFPA 70E, and OSHA electrical safety standards.
  • Verify proper use of lockout/tagout (LOTO), personal protective equipment (PPE), and rubber goods (gloves, sleeves, blankets) during electrical and de-energized work.
  • Lead or support daily job briefings, toolbox talks, and pre-job hazard assessments, drawing on trade experience to communicate credibly with crews.
  • Investigate incidents, near‑misses, and property damage events; determine root cause and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, OSHA logs, training documentation, and inspection reports.
  • Partner with project superintendents, foremen, and crew leads to resolve safety concerns without disrupting project schedules unnecessarily.
  • Deliver or coordinate safety training, including new‑hire orientation, electrical safe work practices, fall protection, excavation/trenching, and equipment operation.
  • Stop work when imminent danger conditions are identified and escalation appropriately.
  • Support emergency response planning and serve as a first responder/first aid resource on site as needed.
  • Stay current on regulatory changes (OSHA, NESC, DOT, state‑specific requirements) and communicate updates to project teams.
What You’ll Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification in a related field a plus.
  • Journeyman electrician, electrical apprentice, lineman, or equivalent hands‑on electrical trade experience (minimum 2–4 years preferred).
  • Working knowledge of electrical hazards, energized/de‑energized work practices, grounding, and PPE requirements in a construction or utility setting.
  • OSHA 30‑Hour Construction certification.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with credibility to speak directly with field crews about electrical and general safety practices.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel to multiple job sites and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be bilingual (English/Spanish)
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk job sites over uneven terrain, climb ladders/structures, and work at heights when necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods, including in hot or cold weather conditions.
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to identify hazards and respond to alarms/warnings in the field.
