Job summary

Rainbow Services is seeking a Residential Associate to support participants in emergency shelter or transitional housing. You will work with program staff to help residents achieve goals in their service plans, contributing to overall safety and a welcoming environment.

The role requires experience in social services, domestic violence experience preferred, and the ability to work with diverse clients; bilingual Spanish/English is required.

Qualifications

• Training or experience in the social service field, particularly residential services, highly desired.
• Prior experience in the domestic violence field preferred.
• Interest in addressing social justice issues affecting families and vulnerable groups, and a commitment to the movement to end intimate partner violence.
• Willingness to work with a diverse client population, including individuals in crisis.
• Flexibility and adaptability to the changing needs of the work environment.
• Bilingual Spanish/English required per contract agreements and high percentage of Spanish-speakers in client population.
• Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. required.
• State-mandated 40-hour Domestic Violence training required and can be provided upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Respond to a 24-hour Spanish/English hotline for survivors of domestic violence.
• Ensure safe operations of shelter programs, including assisting with office management.
• Coordinate intake into the shelter programs.
• Organize residential programming when appropriate.
• Assist residents with various support services, including addressing basic needs, completing application forms, providing referrals to community services, and identifying employment opportunities as appropriate.
• Address resident concerns and provide crisis intervention.
• Manage and document services.
• Prepare shelter units for potential residents.
• Assist with audit preparation.
• Oversee assigned chores.
• Support volunteers assigned to the shelter programs.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
