Job summary

Florida Sports and Family Health Center in Kissimmee, FL is seeking a full-time Referral Coordinator to manage patient referrals, verify insurance, obtain authorizations, and coordinate care between patients, primary care providers, and specialists.

You will document all activity in the EHR, maintain HIPAA compliance, and provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. A high school diploma and 1 year of medical office experience are required, bilingual Spanish a plus.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Bilingual preferred (Spanish a plus).
• Verifiable employment references.
• EHR experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance protocols (e.g., HIPAA).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Excellent customer service skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in medical office operations or insurance verification.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process all incoming and outgoing referrals in a timely and efficient manner.
• Obtain prior authorizations and verify insurance coverage as needed.
• Communicate with patients regarding referral status and required documentation.
• Collaborate with providers and medical assistants to ensure appropriate referrals are initiated based on clinical needs.
• Track and follow up on pending referrals to ensure completion and receipt of specialist reports.
• Document all referral activity, communication, and outcomes accurately in the EHR.
• Maintain knowledge of insurance requirements, network specialists, and referral policies.
• Assist patients with questions or concerns related to their referrals.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and company policies.
• Support other administrative or clinical tasks as assigned by management.
