Job summary

The People's Music School in Chicago seeks a Program Coordinator for Uptown Academy to help run daily program operations, support the Program Manager, and connect students, families, faculty, and staff.

The role is part-time, in-person, 20-23 hours per week, aligned with Chicago Public Schools calendar, with afternoon hours 2:30-7:30pm and some events evenings/weekends. Bilingual Spanish required.

Compensation is $22 per hour plus paid time off, paid sick leave, and a 403(b) Employer Match.

Qualifications

• Bilingual Spanish required.
• High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in music education, performance, or arts administration preferred.
• Understanding of a busy school environment.
• Highly organized and self-motivated.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace.
• Collaborative team member.
• Extremely reliable with consistent attendance and professionalism.
• Must pass Chicago Public Schools background check.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience working with diverse communities.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to the Program Manager.
• Assist with day-to-day operations at the program site.
• Translate communications from English to Spanish.
• Support events and activities (set-up/take-down, snack time, transitions).
• Maintain student databases and instrument inventory.
• Coordinate service hour opportunities and scheduling.
• Procure program supplies and equipment.
• Assist with on/off-site events (concerts, orientations, fundraisers, classes).
• Participate in staff/faculty meetings and professional development.
• Other duties as assigned.
