Job summary

The Children's Home Society of New Jersey is seeking a Bilingual Program Assistant 1/Community Partner at the Anchor Family Success Center in Brick Township, NJ. The role focuses on resource and volunteer development, community outreach, and building relationships with parents, schools, service providers, and local government to support children and families.

Bilingual Program Assistant 1/Community Partner

Full Time Anchor Family Success Center, Brick Township, NJ, US

Salary: $40,000.00 Annually

The Program Assistant is responsible for resource, volunteer development and outreach by integrating him/herself into the community and building mutually beneficial relationships with parents, faith services in the community, business, advocates and key stakeholder, i.e., schools, service providers, local and county government and other agencies. Works with the community to be leveraged and developed to better support and service the children, youth and families within the community served.

Educational Requirements : Associate Degree and/or 60 semester hours from an accredited institution of higher learning along with a valid New Jersey driver's license are required. Additional education and previous experience in recruiting, training and coordinating volunteers for community-based organizations, charities, etc. is preferred. Experience with marketing, fundraising, program planning, data entry and community/business outreach.

Salary:$40,000/per year

Essential Duties:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evening and weekend hours as needed.
  • Attend community fairs, meetings, and conferences with the purpose of outreach and recruitment.
  • Assists as needed within the agency to
  • Assist with the development of marketing materials (flyers, newsletter, constant contact, etc.) to promote the center based activities.
  • Assists the community in the development of support, services and approach, to address challenges of its families.
  • Empower and support volunteers to strive and foster independence, growth and development.
  • Identifies the strengths, challenges and service gaps in the community in collaboration with the community partners and parent leaders.
  • Implements a series of activities in collaboration with community partners and leaders.
  • Incorporates and implements the Principles of Family Support and the Protective Factors into all aspects of their work.
  • Facilitating groups and providing assistance during center based activities, etc.
  • Monitors the volunteers’ schedule and works closely with student interns as needed.
  • Plans an annual event honoring community representatives and volunteers.
  • Plans strategies to involve parents, educators, retired professionals, and community leaders as volunteers at their local Family Success Center.
  • Promote and design activities that enrich cultural diversity at the center.
  • Provides direction to the volunteers and consultation for all volunteer functions.
  • Reviews and implements new methods for attracting, training, and retaining volunteer staff with the guidance of the site supervisor and/or Director.
  • Work in collaboration with community partners to bring resources and activities related to the core services of the center.
  • Works closely with other Community Partnership Specialists to implement strategies that are consistent across all FSC centers under the managing agency.
  • Works closely with the Parent Advisory Committee/Board.
