Job summary

University of Wisconsin–Madison—the WIDA program within the School of Education—seeks a Professional Learning Curriculum Specialist to develop and adapt research-based professional learning content for multilingual educators. The role supports Spanish-speaking educators and will deliver sessions in both English and Spanish across virtual, in-person, and self-paced formats.

Travel up to 20% and remote work are accommodated.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of US teaching experience serving multilingual learners in PreK-12 environments.
• Bilingual/biliterate in Spanish.
• Experience developing and facilitating professional learning related to multilingual learners in both English and Spanish.
• Experience developing materials and resources used to support the professional development ofEducators.
• Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and adult learning theory.
• Experience collaborating with staff; strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage workload and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Meets with students for intake and general assessment and makes referrals to others on campus as appropriate.
• May participate in strategic planning and grant proposals for instructional development and program direction.
• May supervise day-to-day activities of work unit employees involved in instructional support.
• Develops teaching techniques aligned with outcomes and may train staff in their use.
• Works to design curriculum and instructional techniques in a disciplinary area and suggest new ways of effective instruction.
• Provides supplemental instruction for students across in-person, online, and other formats.
• Assists in defining program objectives and carries out program duties.
• Assesses learner performance and may prepare reports with recommendations for improvements.
