Job summary

Mesquite ISD is seeking a Bilingual Pre-Kindergarten Assistant to support instructional activities in a paraprofessional role. The position involves assisting the teacher with daily classroom tasks and supervising students during instructional and non-instructional periods.

The ideal candidate will hold a High School diploma or GED, demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, and work well within a collaborative school team in a fast-paced elementary setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in small group pupil instruction and tutor students.
• Plan and implement pre-kindergarten physical education instruction based on district provided curriculum.
• Help maintain discipline and other non-instructional functions.
• Record attendance information and related clerical functions with the teacher.
• Collaborate with the teacher to set up classroom and prepare materials for specialized instructional units.
• Assemble materials for bulletin boards and keep displays current.
• Escort children to and from various rooms.
• Supervise students when teacher is temporarily absent
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Operate standard school equipment such as laminator, copier, etc.
• Escort children to and from various rooms.
• Supervise students when teacher is temporarily absent
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.

• Reading and comprehending simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; writing simple correspondence and effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group situations.
