Job summary

UnitedHealth Group in Puerto Rico is seeking a Pharmacy Technician - Prior Authorization to handle incoming calls, process prior authorizations, and provide information to members and providers. The role requires navigating multiple computer systems and delivering high-quality customer service in English and Spanish.

On-site training is required, with a schedule that includes evenings and weekends; a sign-on bonus of $800 is offered.

Qualifications

• Puerto Rico Pharmacy Technician license or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification.
• Proficiency with computer and Windows PC applications.
• Ability to identify problems and determine solutions independently or in a team.
• Professional proficiency in English and Spanish (English assessment required).
• Available for 8 weeks of on-site training.
• Ability to work 40 hours/week Monday–Friday 8:00am–10:00pm AST and Saturdays 9:00am–7:00pm; overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Receive member and provider calls.
• Process prior authorizations through multiple systems with accuracy.
• Navigate across systems to respond with medication details/clinical information.
• Make follow-up calls to provide prior authorization requirements or appeals.
• Apply benefit plan criteria to approvals/denials or recommendations.
• Provide members with general benefit information.
• Collaborate with others to gather information and interpret clinical guidelines.
• English proficiency assessment will be required after application.
