Job summary

JBWS seeks a Bi-lingual Spanish-speaking Pet Advocacy Specialist for Passaic County to lead pet-inclusive programming and provide trauma-informed advocacy to survivors and their pets. The role focuses on crisis support, safety planning, and referrals while ensuring compassionate, survivor-centered care.

The position requires a 35-hour work week, strong collaboration with shelters, and comprehensive documentation to support pet-friendly services and safety outcomes.

Qualifications

• BSW or related degree with 2+ years of experience or minimum of 4 years in a relevant field.
• Experience or willingness to provide pet-inclusive domestic violence services.
• Knowledge of the impact of domestic violence on families and pets.
• Strong organizational and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide hotline and crisis support for survivors and their pets.
• Conduct safety planning and trauma-informed advocacy.
• Coordinate shelter entry, pet accommodations, and referrals.
• Deliver pet-friendly orientation and program guidelines to new families.
• Maintain documentation for clients and pets, including intakes and service notes.
• Participate in weekly supervision and case review meetings about pet needs.
