Job summary

Keck Medicine of USC Arcadia Hospital is seeking a Patient Advocate to extend the clinical care team by resolving communication and cultural barriers using advocacy skills. The role will educate, influence staff and providers, and empower LEP patients and families to improve their experience while collaborating with leadership to deliver patient-centered care.

Minimum education is a high school diploma with 3–5 years of related experience, preferably in acute care.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent required.
• 3–5 years experience in related field, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Able to communicate in writing in both languages.
• Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
• Bilingual – English plus Chinese or Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and resolve communication and cultural barriers using advocacy skills.
• Manage patient expectations by educating and influencing expected service behaviors with staff and providers.
• Empower LEP patients and families to take an active role in improving their patient experience.
• Develop education materials to support patient-centered care.
• Assist with policies that are patient- and family-centered.
• Make recommendations to leadership to drive service excellence.
