Job summary

St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jacksonville, FL, seeks a Communications and IT Assistant to coordinate parish communications across print and digital media, maintain the weekly bulletin, and manage social media with faith-filled content.

The role supports IT needs and backup administrative duties, reporting to the Operations Manager. A background in communications or IT and proficiency with design and publishing tools are preferred; bilingual English/Spanish is a strong plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, information technology, or a related field preferred, or four years of professional experience.
• Proficiency with design tools (Canva, Adobe Suite, etc.); experience managing social media and websites; and proficiency with desktop publishing and media editing software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with the ability to upload, organize, and maintain files across various software applications.
• Experience with databases, specialized software, and digital communication platforms is beneficial.
• Must be familiar with the Church and have knowledge of and commitment to Gospel values, Catholic moral and social teachings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading, editing, and preparing clear and effective communications.
• Organized and detail-oriented; able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and edit the weekly parish bulletin.
• Coordinate and maintain parish communications via social media and digital platforms.
• Manage parish social media (Facebook, Instagram) with engaging, timely, faith-filled content.
• Create flyers and media with parish ministries for events and activities.
• Provide administrative support and back-up to staff; greet visitors and answer inquiries.
• Ensure communications reflect Catholic teaching and diocesan branding.
