Job summary

Irving ISD is seeking a dedicated paraprofessional to assist the classroom teacher in meeting students' instructional and daily needs under the supervision of the principal and a certified teacher.

You will work with individuals or small groups, support ESL students in inclusive settings, assist with testing and records, supervise students, and help prepare instructional materials and displays using standard equipment.

Qualifications

• Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate or equivalent
• High School Diploma or GED required

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher
• Assist teachers in providing modified instruction for ESL students in inclusive settings
• Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
• Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom
• Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
• Assist in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
• Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom
• Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of classroom equipment
• Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as required
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
• Serve as an interpreter in situations when one is needed
• Any other duties as assigned by Campus Principal.
